The car I never wanted to own. This 32 Chevy belonged to my Uncle John Mckenzie. He lived 6 hours away from me in Grove City, Ohio. He bought the 32 back in the late 80s. I never saw it run, it was always sitting in his garage. Each trip him and I would talk about it, I always told him when I finished my 57 I’d come and get his 32.
Unfortunately, John passed away from cancer in August of 2016. His wife, my aunt, told me John wanted me to have the car. I drove up there shortly after his death and brought it home. It’s the car I never wanted because I knew the only way I was going to get the car. John was only in his 60s and should have still be alive today.
Uncle John had a 2 car garage/workshop, it was the neighborhood meeting place. John was a truck driver and worked on all the neighbors cars when he was not on the road. He knew all his neighbors and they all liked him. I always told the story that I thought John might be my real dad. I told my friends he knocked up some chick and gave me to his sister to raise. I actually told that story to a friend and later on that same day I would learn John was in the hospital with cancer. He checked in because of intense back pain and the doctors told him he had stage 4 cancer. He never left the hospital.
